Hiding from the Light?

"But those who do what is right come to the Light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." -John 3:21

So often we take verses and dwell on them individually, but how often do we look at the context. Look at John 3:16 which most everyone in America has heard, but what is the context?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." -John 3:16-18

Most of us are familiar with the verses above, but what about the next verses...

"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God." -John 3:19-21

Rather than pointing the finger outwards to others, lets look at ourselves. When I live in sin, I hide. I do not want to come into the Light. I want to hide in darkness, out of fear that my deeds will be shown. But if I am willing to live in brokenness and humility, I can live in the Light.

Let us stop trying to hide, and instead live in the light of Christ's forgiveness. Let us live in the light, and as a light showing that our deeds have been done through God, giving Him all the glory.
