What type of tree are you?

"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit" -John 15:5

Read John 15:1-8. Don't go by memory. You may have heard it and read it many times, but seriously read it. Questions: Do you produce fruit? What fruit do you produce? How often do you produce fruit?

This is not a guilt trip. This is not in any way a “you need to try harder.” This is about being plugged into the right source of life. Verse 6 says apart from Jesus we can not produce fruit. I know, especially in the past, I have looked like a tree merely from the outside. But, if I don't produce fruit what good am I as a tree? We will be known by our fruit  (Luke 6:44).

I think at times we as the tree want to uproot ourselves and try to plant ourselves somewhere else. How unnatural. I think that many times rather than being watered with the Word  (Ephesians 5:26) we water ourselves with the filthy water of the world. How unnatural.

Spend sometime reconnecting with the Vine. It's not something that should be only a need, but a want. Who doesn't want nourishment, who doesn’t want more life? Connected to Jesus we will have life and have to the full (John 10:10).
