I am a man who must lay down his own life for others.

In the context of Ephesians chapter 5, Paul talks about how as men we are supposed to live like Christ, and how we are to treat our wives in this example. Ephesians 5:26 says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her".

Many people take this passage and look at verse 22, and either freak out at the word "sumbit" or run with it and build a arguement of men being more important than women in the relationship. If we look at the context, it is clear we are to submit to one another (verse 21) and more important than all, we are to love our wives like Christ does the Church. This by far supersedes submission, and show impact our lives immensely.

I know I fail at that often, I need Christ more than ever to live in and through me how I treat others and how I treat my wife. We must lay down our lives and die to ourselves so we can be like Christ to our wives, our families, our friends and our communities.

"In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” -Ephesians 5:28-31
