I will no longer be confused with those of this world.

"By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another." -John 13:35

If someone asked to describe you, would anyone mention that you are loving? People could describe me a lot of ways, and even if it could/ would be mostly good, what does it say about me, if I am not described as loving.

We claim to be Jesus' followers, but how much do we really love? Do our lives look anything like Jesus? We should have a love that looks nothing like the world. A love that comes only from God living in and through us.

If we look at Christians in America, overal we are very unloving. We have argued over smaller doctrine instead of unifying for Christ's purpose and created countless divisions. We are generally too laziness to reach out to our extended family, coworkers, friends and community, acting like we do not care enough to share the Good News. We overall are too selfish to practice true religon and take care of widows, orphans, homeless and those less fortunate, it's easier to give a few dollars in the offering at church and pretend we are doing our part.

There are a lot of big areas where American Christians lack love specifically, but the fact is it starts with us. It starts with me being loving. It starts with me being unifying. It starts with me reaching out and not being lazy. It starts with me not being selfish.

Let's pray for the love of Christ is permeate our lives and overflow to those around us.

Look one verse earlier where Jesus informs us how we should love.

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another." -John 13:34

Let's love like Jesus did. He didn't try to change the government. He didn't try to change the synogague. He didn't try to teach as many people as possible. He focused a few people. He lived life together with common men, even the despised. He didn't pick popular leaders to spread the message. The message in the hands of true disciples following Jesus' example is what changed the world.

It starts with us. It starts with us loving. It starts with us going out. It starts with us being the hands, feet and voice of Jesus.

Let's stop thinking about it. Let's stop talking about it. Let's stop delaying it. Let's start doing it. And in doing it there is no way anyone could ever confuse us with this world.
