Make me the man who will change my community

"His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." -2 Peter 1:3-11

We have everything we need from God to live the way He designed, do we act that way? Have we added goodness to our faith so it is not weak and empty? Do we live our lives like we have forgotten our salvation and calling?

Too many of us, including myself at times, can feel that Christianity is work or a duty, how false is that perspective. We have the privilege not be be bystanders but actual participatants in the divine nature. We have the honor to live in the great promises He has given to us in His divine power. This is huge, don't skim over the words, look again at 2nd Peter. If we catch even a glimpse of this, our lives and perspective could never be the same. If our lives do look the same we are nearsighted and blind.

Let's pray:
God open my eyes, I never again want to be nearsighted and blind, only focusing on what is right in front of me, or worse walking through life with no sight at all.  Give me Your eyes so I can see those around me the way You see them. Make me the man who will live as a coworker with You in the divine nature in Your divine power that You have given to us. Help me add to my faith: goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, kindness and love. Help me live in these so I can be effective and productive so You can use me to change my community.
