"THE FUNK" - Day 6 - Training

As we have discussed in the analogies of rock climbing and running, the overall picture is the same. We are all in process and need to continue moving. I think the easiest thing to do when stuck in "the funk" is to just stop moving forward.

I think about friends who exercise everyday, they continue to do it and sometimes they don't feel like it, but they push themselves and continue. I am sure when you ask them, they will say some mornings they don't want to get out of bed, but when they do, they are glad they did at the end.

Likewise, it might be hard to get to the point of setting aside some time and reading, reflecting or praying but once you do, you will be glad. I can think of many times when I just didn't feel like doing anything, but after I start, even by the middle I am so glad I did, and by the end, I don't want to stop.

Train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. -1 Timothy 4:7b-8 ESV

I know how easy it is to procrastinate and come up with excuses, but this sort of training is not just for later, it will help us now. Let's push past the reasons not to and start, how about read I Timothy 4:7-16 today and discuss your thoughts on Facebook.
